Seasoned pros who get it done while having fun

WE LOVE ORGANIZING

Hello, there! We’re Nicole and Katherine – owners of Neatnik. For nearly a decade, we’ve been helping people just like you simplify their lives and living spaces. Replacing clutter and chaos with order and simplicity is at the heart of everything we do. Even better, clients say we make the whole process fun (really).

Our mission is to help you focus on your life, not your stuff.

OUR APPROACH

We believe in working with what you’ve got, respecting your comfort zone, and creating systems to help you not only get organized, but stay organized. Being environmentally friendly is also important to us, which means donating, repurposing, and recycling wherever possible. Some clients call on us for one-time projects, while others use our services over and over again for years. Whatever you need, we can’t wait to help.

FUN FACT: We both grew up in Wisconsin (just 20 miles from each other) and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison but didn’t meet until 2016 when we were both living in Washington, DC. The rest is history, as they say. And we both remain huge Badger fans!

MEET NICOLE

Before I got into organizing 15+ years ago, I worked in politics and communications, which was great… but not nearly as satisfying as what I do now. The best part of my work is helping people feel more comfortable in their homes. I love that at the end of every day, I truly feel like I’ve accomplished something and made a difference.

When I’m not organizing, I love travel and photography (I take pictures constantly!), walking my dog, Louise, in Rock Creek Park, and hanging out with my husband and our two teenage daughters. As an avid tennis fan, attending all four Grand Slam tournaments is high on my bucket list. My happy place? The beach. I love nothing better than sitting in the sand staring at the ocean.

FUN FACT: For nearly a decade, I wrote a monthly organizing column for the Local Living section of the Washington Post. My organizing tips have also appeared in InStyle, Real Simple, Martha Stewart, Apartment Therapy, and Refinery29, among other places.

MEET KATHERINE

Before Neatnik, I worked in communications serving government, non-profit, and private sector clients, but organizing is a lifelong passion. It is truly my privilege to help individuals and families function better, feel less overwhelmed, and turn their spaces into places they love. And while I believe having “less stuff” can be freeing, it doesn’t always have to be huge leaps. Small steps are just as valuable. I like to meet people where they are.

Outside of work, I enjoy the arts (I collect art and design books), true crime, movies, and e-books/audiobooks. I’m a huge history fan, and love to travel and dig into any new destination’s local history. My husband and two children would tell you my energy level is high, and my sense of humor is big. (Nicole jokes I’m the ‘fun’ one.)

FUN FACT: I’m a passionate home cook who loves to experiment with, and perfect, recipes. The one thing you’ll never find in my cabinets or pantry: single-use kitchen gadgets. I’m morally opposed.

Thank you for everything! You guys made this fun instead of overwhelming. Dori
